Why You Should Pursue a Health Information Technology Degree
100% Online Program!*
Health Information Technology (HIT) is the backbone of the 国产色情片 universe. Doctors, administrators, nurses, and a range of 国产色情片 professionals across fields look to this function for access to important patient data that can be made available at a moment鈥檚 notice. Health Information Technology professionals make this possible.
Using industry-standard programs, applications, and best practices, HIT workers are charged with inputting, trafficking and updating patient information, and filing that data into Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs) for future reference and recall. These records typically contain information such as patient medical histories, diagnostic results, symptoms, test result information, and doctor鈥檚 notes. As a primary principle of this field, confidentiality is key and is a chief focus for Health Information Technology professionals.
Through the HIT program at CBD College, future HIT Professionals will be taught all the industry-standard and emerging EHR systems, medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes and 国产色情片 industry best practices.
Upon completion of the HIT program at CBD College, students are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential exam.
CBD College鈥檚 HIT program is 100% online*, allowing the flexibility of obtaining an associates degree in a growing field as a full-time, digital curriculum for our students that can be based around their busy schedules and lives.
Why a Health Information Technology Degree?
At CBD College, we recognize that behind every doctor or 国产色情片 administrator is a support staff of highly trained 国产色情片 professionals that perform functions that patients typically might not think of first and foremost. These front-of-office positions are a cornerstone of all medical practices, and the Health Information Technology professional is a key member of any 国产色情片 offering.
CBD believes that this career field is not only key to the current state of our 国产色情片 system, but will become more important as time goes on. Industry analysts estimate there will be 1.9 million new jobs in the 国产色情片 field between 2018 and 2028*. Our goal is to put you in the best position to become a valuable, professional contributor to the 国产色情片 economy.
The HIT program is a 100% online, full-time digital course that can be built around your schedule. CBD is an institution that understands that many of our students are part-time workers, paying their way through school, and so with that in mind, we鈥檝e built the HIT program to be adaptive to our student鈥檚 needs as well.
Outside of the coursework, CBD offers one-on-one guidance from our career services department to help you land on your feet in the job market after you graduate, and make the skills you obtain through this program an attractive qualification for future employers in the 国产色情片 industry.
Hands-On Training
As part of the HIT program, students enrolled in the course will receive 40 hours of hands-on training as part of their practical curriculum in the program. This will simulate real-life deployments of their coursework and help them sharpen their skills before entering into the workforce.
*The program includes a residential clinical externship component of up to 40 hours
The Health Information Management accreditor of CBD College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Health Information Technology Career Outlook
Employment of medical records and health information technicians is projected to grow 11% from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations*.
What a Career in Health Information Technology Looks Like
Our goal is to help our students successfully transition from academic life to professional life and find their way to productive, prosperous careers with what they鈥檝e learned at CBD College.
When our students graduate from CBD College鈥檚 Health Information Technology program, they have a sense of what fields and applicable job types there are for a HIT professional, and how best to approach the job market for these positions. Entry-level roles such as: health information clerk, medical records analyst, medical records coordinator, clinical documentation specialist, document imaging technician, patient access representative and more in environments such as: doctor鈥檚 offices, health technology companies, hospital systems, and insurance companies. These roles are important first steps in becoming part of 国产色情片 administration networks, insurance agencies, specialized clinics and many other facets of the 国产色情片 economy.
As 国产色情片 work continues to shift out of hospitals and larger systems and more toward office-sized practices, HIT professionals will see demand for their services and skills rise. For HIT professionals that are looking to pursue a management track in their career, this will also create an opportunity to develop office-sized networks that reinforce HIT best practices, delivering optimal outcomes for patient record keeping and medical information tracking.
HIT professionals that complete CBD鈥檚 program will have the ability to deploy a distinctive set of highly-valuable skills as a result of their training, including:
- Skills, knowledge and best practice for coding systems (EHRs) in 国产色情片 management
- Computer literacy and applied systems work
- Medical Law, ethics, and communications
- Data collection, management, security, analytics and reporting
- The ability to apply pathophysiology and pharmacology to the organization and deployment of the coding and reimbursement process
- An ability to demonstrate critical thinking, team building, collaborative engagement across departmental functions, and a strong sense of professionalism in a diversity of working scenarios
HIT professionals can expect career growth opportunities as a result of their training and certifications. The need for 国产色情片 professionals in all sectors of the industry will only continue to grow, and HIT professionals with quality education and certifications will be in high demand, making this program a high-value proposition for any future employer.

State Authorization of Distance Education Outside of California
The US Department of Education requires that any institution offering distance education programs to students who reside outside of its home state must acquire authorization from the states in which students reside. Regulations vary from state to state, as such, federal, state, and institutional policies may limit or prohibit CBD College鈥檚 authorization for delivery of online education to students in certain states.
While the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity (NC-SARA), established a voluntary state-level reciprocity process for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education programs, the state of California does not participate in the agreement and California-based institutions such as CBD College are not eligible to take advantage of the reciprocity agreement if they offer distance education in other states. Therefore, CBD College must seek and document a status with the states in which the institution enrolls distance education students.
CBD College does not enroll students from states where the institution is not licensed or authorized, exempt, operating under a waiver, or otherwise able to enroll students because the state鈥檚 laws do not pertain to the institution or to the College鈥檚 activities in that state.
Impact of Change in Location and Residence
Students must contact the school to discuss any change in their state of residence prior to relocation. Should a student relocate to a state in which CBD College is not authorized to provide distance education, continued enrollment cannot be guaranteed. This may also impact a student鈥檚 Title IV financial aid eligibility, loan repayment or deferment and/or veteran鈥檚 benefits. Students should consult with the Financial Aid Office to determine the impact of a change in location.
Authorization Information
The list below summarizes CBD College鈥檚 status in those states in which the institution currently offers distance education programs to that state鈥檚 residents and the complaint process for those states.

In accordance with state law, the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education is responsible for investigating student complaints against educational institutions licensed by the agency.
